Objective: Understand Guided Reading procedures.

Activity:                          

1.      Guided Reading Lesson on How to Buzz Effectively.

2.      Practice Buzzing with Partner for 5 mins.

3.      Reading Inventory Sheet that will be Homework.

Assess:

I will be assessing your Buzz sessions by walking around and listening to conversations.

9:00 – 10:40

Reading Instruction

Objective: Understand Guided Reading Work Time and Activities.

Activity:

1.      Discussion on Work Time during Guided Reading.

2.      Introduction of first Science/S.S. Project: Weather Unit.

3.      Spelling Introduction – also, write words in planner.

4.      Reading – Predict/Infer Strategy on The Pumpkin Box.

5.      Newspaper Activities

6.      Finish up Getting to know You Activity – will start presenting this afternoon.

Objective:  Lesson 1.1 and Understand the use of the Math Journals when we get them; how to use the SRB; and the Math Message. 
Activity: 
1.  Discussion of Math Journals and SRB.
2.  Go over the process of the Math Message.
3.  Scavenger Hunt – Work with partner.

  1. Discussion of this time of day’s activities.

1.      Discuss Greeting Others and have students practice.

Activity:       

1.      Discussion of How to Work while the Teacher is testing other students?

2.      Reading – Phonics/Decoding Strategy on The Pumpkin Box. 

3.      Science/S.S. Project: Weather Unit – Let’s get started with Lesson 1 on the Water Cycle.

4.      Spelling – Name Pictures (discuss and explain)

5.      Newspapers Activities.

6.      Mrs. B will be doing individual reading testing.
