  2. Use Read-A-Loud book to discuss how books sometimes makes us think about issues in the world.
  3. Show students Amber Alert site.
  4. Use a T chart to organize thinking about the differences and similarities between 2 books.

b.      Teaching Point – Telling our personal narratives as a sequence of events.

c.      Demonstration – I resist talking all about and instead storytell the event: Recall the Fire Drill and start as a whole class.

2.    Conference/Small Group/Independent Work Time:

d.      Students practice  writing their own version of the Fire Drill in their snippet journals.

d.      Students practice writing about another event in their snippet journals.  It can be about going through the lunch line, riding the bus, or something outside of school.
