Objective: Students will use strategies they already know for generating narrative writing.

Activities:

  1. Mini-Lesson:

a.    Connection – Writers think of first times, last times, or times of important realizations to generate writing.

b.    Teaching Point – When writers want to start writing about a turning point event, they freewrite.

c.    Demonstration – Remember my sharing my freewrite on seeing the ocean, from the first time.  Well, I might choose to write about my first broken arm.

a.    In your journals, freewrite about a different event from your list.
