Design By Description

        This is a project between Mrs. Brueggeman's 5th Grade Class at Valley Park Elementary and Mrs. Patton's 5th Grade Class at Dardenne Elementary.  Below are Mrs. Brueggeman's students' original floor plans and descriptions.  The students in Mrs. Patton's class who made a floor plan based on the descriptions have their floor plan below.  Go to Mrs. Patton's Class Website to see their original floor plans and descriptions.

       Description of Original Floor Plan

The room is 10 units by 10 units in size.  My bedroom door is 4 units wide and is on the south wall and starts 2 units from the south right corner of the room.  The TV Armoire is 2 units wide and is also on the south wall 1 unit from the south left corner.  A fan is 1 unit up from the south left corner as well.  There are also sliding doors, 4 units wide, on the West wall that start 2 units from the northwest corner.  My bed is 4 units by 5 units and the top is centered on the north wall.  There are two 2 unit windows on each side of my bed.  On the right side of my bed is a night table directly in front of the window that is 2 units in size.  My dresser is on the east wall 3 units from the northeast corner.  It is 4 units wide and 1/2 units deep.  I have a large fake tree in the southwest corner and another one in the northwest corner.  A smaller tree is in the northeast corner.  A mini tree is between my bedroom door and the TV Armoire.

When you walk in the door of my room to the right you see a dresser that is 2 units long.  If you go two more units to the right you will see a radio that is 1 unit. At the bottom right corner are the TV. One unit up the right side is a book shelf that is 2 units tall. One more unit up there is a window in the upper right corner is my bed is 6units long with a window in it. A walk 6 unit to the left and down 2 units is my closet.

*Note: All these are a top view of the room. There are two beds, one is mine and the other is my brother’s. My bed is a 4 by 5 in a 10 by 10 room at the top left corner. My brother’s is the same at the top right corner. There is 4 by 1 desk right under my brother’s bed. It touches the bed. There is a dresser under the righter most square of the desk; it is a 1 by 3. My closet is under the dresser. It is 5 spaces wide. There is a mirror to the left of the closet; it is a 1 by 1. Finally the door is 2 spaces wide right to the left of the closet. Once again these are all from a top view.

My bed is 4 boxes away from my door and my radio is 2 boxes away from my bed. But my window is still 2 boxes away from my radio. To get to my plant you have to go to my bed witch is next to my window and there is my plant. To get to my TV you have to go 4 boxes to the right and 2 boxes down and you are at my TV. My bed is 2 boxes to the right and my Dresser is right there.

Note: one square equals 1 unit.   First on the upper right hand corner my bed is three units wide and four units tall.  Second go over to the left two units and draw a double window.  Third move three units to the left and draw a dresser three units tall.  Fourth move down two units and draw a desk three units tall.  Fifth in front of the middle of the desk draw a one unit chair.  Sixth go down five units and draw a closet three units wide.  Seventh go five units right and go four units up and draw a bookshelf three units tall.  Finally go down two units down and draw a doorway one unit.

If you go straight from the door two units you will be on the bed. If you go one   unit straight and three units right. If you go one straight and nine unit’s right you be at the closet. If you go straight nine unit’s you will be at the night stand. If you go right to the bottom right corner you will be on the entertainment center. If you go four units up next to the bed there will be a window. If go one unit up there will be another window. If you go ten units left from thee window you will be on the dresser. Now go ten units left to the window. Go two spaces up and you will be on the night table. That’s  what my room looks like.

My bed is 3 units wide and 4 units tall. My desk is 4 units wide. My little sister’s bed is also 3 units wide and 4 units tall.  2 units down is my door and it is two units tall.  Three units down is the T.V. that is 4 units wide. Next to the T.V. is my 1 unit shelf. The next thing is my closet 3 units wide. Go up 2 units you will find my desk 2 units tall and two units wide.

My doorway (2units) is slanted on the Southeast wall.  When you walk in, to the right is my T.V (1unit).  To the left is my closet (2units).  North of my closet is my cats bed (1unit).  West of my cats bed is my Vanity (2x3).  North of my T.V is my dresser (2x2).  North of my dresser is my Bookshelf (2x3).  North of my Vanity is my bed (3x5).  Next to that is my night table (1unit).  Then on the North wall is my window (3units).

My bedroom is big. My bed is in my left corner and my window is in my right corner at the top. My bed takes up 20 boxes it is 4*4. My window takes up 1 box it is 1*1. You go one box down and use the box under the empty box. Those two boxes take up the closet the closet takes up 2 boxes it is 2*1. You then go down a box and use the other box below the empty box and it is my computer desk it takes up 8 boxes it is 2*4. You then go down 1 box and use the other box below that and there is another window it takes up 1 box and it is 1*1. Move a box over and use the box after that and it is the dresser it takes up 3 boxes it is 3*1. You then move over 2 more spaces and it is the door. Now move 1 box over then go up 1, and that is my shoe holder and it takes up 3 boxes it is 1*3. Now you go up to the third top box and go over 2, and there is my T.V. my T.V. takes up 2 boxes it is 2*1 and my rug is under it. Then you move over 2 and the chair is right there and it is worth 2 boxes it is 1*2. You go up 2 turn right, and there is my stereo it takes up 2 boxes it is 2*1. You then go up and that is the lamp it takes up 4 boxes it is 2*2. I hope you had fun and try your best to get it correct.

In my room layout, one square equals one unit. The room is ten by ten square units. In the bottom left corner is the door; which is two square units wide and one square unit tall. Next to the door is a wall that is one square unit wide and three square units tall. On the other side if the wall is a dresser that is one unit wide and two units tall. Next to the dresser is my closet. It is half a unit tall and three units wide. To the right of the closet is a desk that has my T.V. on it. It is in the bottom right corner. To the right of the desk is a pink blow up chair. Behind the chair is a sliding glass door that is on unit wide and three units tall. The door is on the right side of the paper. Two square units in front of my bedroom door is a necklace hanger which is two units tall and half a unit wide. In front of my necklace hanger is my dresser that is four square units tall and one unit wide. In front of the dresser in the top left corner are four stuffed animals which are half a unit tall and half a unit wide. Two units over is a shelf hanging against the wall that is four units wide and one unit tall. Under the shelf is my bed that is five units tall and four units wide. Next to my bed is my night table that is two units wide and one unit tall. Next to the night table are four books that are one unit tall and half a unit wide. In front of my closet is a rug that is three units wide and one and a half unit tall.

My bathroom is to the left when you come from the bathroom and it takes up six boxes. When you com out you will go straight to go to the television and it takes up two boxes. Then when you turn left from the television you will see the bed. It takes up fifty boxes. Also when you look on the bed you will see pillows. They take up ten boxes. Next when you turn right you will see my window and there is a tree outside of it. When you turn around and you go straight you will see the desk top. My homework and  my computer is on there. And finally when you turn to the right you will see the door way. To help you get out.

My doorway is in the low left-hand corner of my room horizontally.
My closet is to the right of my doorway close to the edge of the wall.
My chair is in-between my closet and doorway about half-way down the wall.
My dresser is directly north of my doorway, about half-way up my high-left wall, right at the top-head of my bed.
My bed takes up about 7\10 of my whole north wall.
My vanity is at the end of my bed, about half the size down of my bed, if it was cut in half horizontally.
A window is on my north wall about half-way down my bed.
My desk is directly east of my dresser, on my east wall.
My round rug is half-way in-between my dresser and desk on the floor.
The place where I put my guinea pig’s cage is on my east wall directly south of my desk vertically.
There is a window on that same wall between my desk and guinea pig’s cage.

My room first starts with a bed it is in the left hand bottom and it is 12 units and 3x4. Next is my window it right next to my bed it is 1 unit and 1*1. The third thing is my lamp it is 1 unit and it is 1*1. The fourth thing is my other window it is 1 unit and it is 1*1. You then go up one box then use the box after that and that is the bookshelf it is 2 units and it is 1*2. The next boxes are the toys it has 4 units and it is 2*2. Now you go over 1 and use the box after that and that is my T.V. it is 6 units and it is 2*3. Now move over 2 and use the box after that and that is my door it is 4 units and it is 2*2. The last thing is my closet you go down 3 and use the box after that and there is the closet it is 3 units and it is 1*3. That is my room and I hope you find the room.

My room is ten by ten square units. In the bottom left corner is my dresser. My dresser is 1unit wide and 5 units tall. Right of my dresser is my desk. My desk is 1unit wide and 3 units tall. To the right of my desk is the door. The door is 2 units wide and 1 unit tall. Next to the door is my closet. The closet is two units wide and five units tall. Two units in front of my closet is my plant. The plant is two units wide and two units tall. Two units left of my plant is my bed. The bed is three units wide and four units tall. To the left of my bed  is  my lamp. My lamp is one unit tall and one unit wide. Under the bed is my rug that is three units wide and two 1\2 units tall. Next to my rug is my t.v. stand that is one unit tall and one unit wide. One unit in front of my dresser is three books. The books are one unit tall and one unit wide. 2 units in front of the books is 2 windows. Each window is half a unit tall and half unit wide.

   My doorway is at the top left hand corner. My closet is a foot away from my doorway. The bed is next to my closet in the right hand corner but slanted and a lamp is in the right hand corner behind my bed. The entertainment center is in the bottom right hand corner. My window is a few inches away.

When you walk up the bedroom stairs, to your left you will see a window, computer, and another desk. Then if you make another left you see another desk, book shelf, two dressers, two beds, a window, and a closet. And that is what you will see in my bedroom.

There is a bed side table that is a half of a square in the far right corner in the north. The television is in the far right corner that is a half of a square in the south. In between the dresser and the television is a light that is one whole square. Going three spaces over to the left and there is the dresser the dresser five squares. Going north is the bed the bed is twenty-five squares. Over two spaces is the window and the window is two whole squares. Going over to the left two spaces there is a bed side table, but this one is one whole square. Going three spaces to the left from the bed side table is the closet. Two squares below the closet is the door the door is two whole squares.

When you walk through the door there’s a futon to your left and a bed to your right. If you keep going straight 7 units and then 2 units left you will see the dresser. If you go straight from the door to the other wall you will see the speakers the TV. And a desk on the other side of the bed.

1 block=1 square area

            When you walk in my room on the right is a bed with a shelf on it that is 8 square areas. On the left is a closet that is 2 square areas. Strait from the door is a window that is 2 square areas. Also there is a TV and a game station on the left of the window they both are 2 square areas. On the left of the game system is a little compartment that is 1 square area. If you look right of the bed there is a dresser and bookshelf they are both 2 square areas. This is what is in my room.
